My progress

November 9, 2009

Hi guys, I’ve played my first freeroll yesterday evening at Expekt.com- Free championship of online poker! I spend 3 and a half hours for earning only 1 dollar and 75 cents! II finished in the top 30 out of 1800 players. Its great result, but lousy pay check :( Not to mention that I’ve put all my money then on NHL and Atlanta to win in regular time, and that didn’t happen! Funny thing is this challenge and its really hard, so I’ll keep on winning as yesterday, even better because not only that I’ll lose my precious time on earning zero, I’ll lose my nerves too ;) And TIME IS MONEY!  Wish me luck tonight at Expekt to win this tournament…

Its more then a luck!

November 8, 2009

To be honest, when I first started to play poker I’ve thought that the main thing is just about being lucky like when you play lottery or bingo! But just recently I’ve realised that poker is not just about luck and being lucky.

I am not a perosn who is supersticious and believes in luck, I am someone who likes to rely on „me, myself and I“, and someone who’d rather punish herself on every mistake I’ve made, rather then to blame it on the cards, the other „donkeys“, or some paranormal activities because this is the only way I can see where my mistakes are made!

I can’t deny it, poker is called luck when some people become blind and keep on pushing all ins all the time with their small pairs, „picture card” e.g. QK, 10J, QJ, AJ even with AK’s…“ and when you make this move with those cards you don’t think about what will happen next at the flop, turn or river! You are not interested in what other players might have and why they raised, you just do it instinctively.

And why would you even think about it, when you probably  hold Jackies in your hand or something better or less because from the start you are the one with good odds to win!

And when you loose with this favourite cards, we will not blame ourselfs by reacting to impulsive and going all in preflop, we’d blame it on the BAD LUCK and make  a lot of excuses for our sometimes bad decisions which are made by our earlier furstrations, tiredness, fears…

I can’t say luck is not an important factor in this game, of course it is. Isn’t luck the part of our everyday life?

At my theory luck is an important factor, yes! But I’d place it at the last place in anything we do besides when you play lottery. When I’ve thought the luck is the key that keeps moving this game, I didn’t really win a thing, because on the long run I’d always loose! We need to throw away the fact that poker is just about being lucky we must face the truth that poker is something much more then luck. Its the skill you can grow and develop each time more and more… but its a skill you’ll never learn completely!

Good player knows when to just call, raise, reraise, bluff. The most important thing is that a great poker player knows when to fold and he doesn’t relies just on his luck and his cards, he relies on himself and what he can do at that point even if he has nothing, but he knows what his opponent might have!

Poker is not a game you play with your heart, you play it with you mind. Its like a battle field, you keep you friends close (your cards), but enemies closer (oponnents cards)!

Which means that you have to always think about what others might have, what they could get on the turn and the river and not just about your own cards and nothing else.

Poker is much more then luck and when you understand this and realise it, you’ll start to win!

Poker is like a one night stand, its hard, its dirty and its an exciment, but if you mix in your emotions, you mess it up, so leave them behind your „bedroom doors“!

From zero to hero!

October 31, 2009

Hi guys, you can call me Marie

I am a simple, outgoing and friendly 24 years old blonde girl from Croatia…

I’ve used to write a blog based on girl’s stuff like Carry Bradshaw, inspired by “Sex and The City”!

I’ve got a lot of compliments about my ex blog at my countries no. 1 blog “spot”, I had a lot of readers,  but as time went by, I stopped to write it because it was taking a lot of my free time… Sounds crazy, but it’s true, because everything I do I take pretty serious and I give  it all as much as I can…

So guys, my 2 nd blog isn’t about me , you or myself  Marie! It won’t be a girlie stuff based on male-fmale relationships, fashion, beauty, makeup…You know all the girl stuff we girls like to read, It will be about something quite opposite of  the “girl’s stuff”

I’ll write about men stuff, something that I like to do in my spare time and that became my almost no. 1 passion lately! I’ll write a blog about poker… Sounds strange, right? I maybe a girl, but I do know how to play this men game ;)

I just love, it’s a fun “part-time job” :)

Today I made a decision that I won’t put a cent on any of my poker accounts for 2,3 months. I am going to follow Chris Ferguson’s challenge that he completed at Full Tilt a year or two ago!
I am not a pro, I am just an amature blonde girl that is a little bit talented at this game! People like to call poker a “luck”, but I can’t have that kind of luck all of the time when I want to play good!

Poker is much more then being just “lucky”! When I say to myself and I am really eager on winning some tournament: “Marie, focus and win this tournament,  I every time get in top 20, no matter how many players are in…”

I mean I had to develop some good skills because I am playing poker since I was 8… And for 3 years now I am playing no limit Texas Hold’em poker almost every day.

First poker game that I played was against my grandfather when I was 8. We used to play for real money 20 dollars a game, that was fun, he never let me win, I always had to play good to win some dollars.. To be honest I won a lot of times back then :] What can I say, you cannot escape your genes… :) )

Ok to be honest I am still a student at economics/accounting, I am unemployed, so I don’t have a thousands of dollars to gamble…Not, yet :) ))

All of my time playing poker, I play no limit cash games with my bankroll about 50- 300 hundred dollars, It depends on how much extra money I have and I can to “gamble” without regreting it later if I loose… Sometimes I win and spend my money on shopping, sometimes I lose, this is just a part of the game…

I only play poker online or with my male friends at home, I don’t go to casino’s tournaments…I don’t have money to go to some big live events like WSOP, EPT, WPT. As I said I am just an unemployed student… But I will try to play it for real and live soon in the near future ’till then I am having fun going  out, studying, to do some sports activities, or playing poker online to make some extra allowance… Who knows maybe I’ll become a pro someday, but before I have to graduate from colleague, get some job and become a succsessfull young business woman :)

Today I’ve made some decision- starting from today 31 st Oct 2009 I am going to write a blog about how I am developing and building up my zero bankroll…

For the first time in my life I am going to play freerolls like I’d play some real money tournaments and I’ll take them serious! Who knows, maybe I’ll get lucky and build up a great bankroll from zero dollars! Wish me luck! If you wanna keep up with my progress, read my future blogs ;)

Take care, Marie!
